Just let me say this "IT'S ABOUT TIME" Are Men And Wemen of the Armed Forces have been in need of a better weapon than the 45. It's about time for the change. For those that used it you know how bad it perfomed, For those that crawled into a tunnel in Nam, and had to use it in that tunnel, Then you know what it did to your hearing. You also know it was best used for pistol wipping than for fireing. 9mm has plenty of power, I traded my 38 for a newer 38/357 years ago, then when the 9mm came along i traded my service revolverer for the automatic. It saved my a,, a many of times. I didn't like the 44cal or the 45cal as a ploice officer. I hateed the 45cal in the Army, So i wrote my Father and asked him to send me my 38, I used it in Nam and it was a far better choice than the 45 for me. So learn too take care of your new 9mm and it will take care of you. It also has a better range than the 45.

Crappiest pistol I've ever handled. Too many parts and the only weapon I've ever had/used where the sights fell off.

I have used the 9mm Beretta, 45 cal.Sig Sauer and the .40 cal. sig Sauer. The best all around weapon is the .45 cal. Sig Sauer. It is accurate and has real knock down power (1 shot) capability, and with the 10 round magazine it has more than enough firepower. The .9mm is a small, light round than travels to fast and inflicts a small wound channel. The .40 caliber is adequate, but the pistol grib is too small for those of us with larger hands, which makes it harder to control. A larger pistol grip and an extended magazine would be ideal.
From personal experience, I was involved in a gun fight a few years ago while conducting a narcotics raid. The offender shot two of my men with a CZ 9mm (both survived). I shot the offender 7 times with a Beretta, 92 FS, 9mm, before he went down (two chest shots). The Beretta performed flawlessly, but packed no punch. A 45 cal. would have been better. Semper Fi

9mm is not powerful enough when dealing with drugged hostiles. Many times a 9mm will not stop an attacker even with a fatal chest shot, that means head shots only. Hopefully the military will accept the new HK45 as the standard combat sidearm, .45 ACP has the knockdown power needed for use against hostiles under the influence of narcotics.

THAT 9MM PISTOL THAT BERETTA HAS INTRODUCED TO THE ARMED SERVICES IS A VERY GOOD PISTOL. HOWEVER, FOR DOWN IN THE DIRT KNOCK-DOWN POWER, THE CALIBRE 45 PISTOL OR REVOLVER IS BETTER. BETTER YET, USING A 44 MAGNUM CALIBRE IS EVEN BETTER PROVIDING THE PERSON FIRING IT CAN CONTROL THE RECOIL PROPERLY. SEMPER FI JOHN VELAR

SIG IS A GREAT WEAPON, BUT I THINK THE COSTS MAY HAVE TURNED THE SERVICES OFF. WHY NOT THE H-K MK23? 45.CAL, HAS A GREAT REP WITH SF.

The M-9 is a piece of junk, The M1911 was the perfect piece to drop someone quickly and effectivly.

Having carried both the M9 and 1911A1 in combat I guess I am qualified to have an opinion. Not only is the M9 underpowered but the issue magazines are junk. I had three failure to feed malfunctions with brand new out of the box GI mags. That problem went away when I purchased some after market mags. The underpowered problem will not go away. We need to return to a .45 or even a .40 caliber handgun. Keep the M9 for the fobbits!!!

I BET THIER THINKINKING ABOUT THE RECOIL FROM A 45 CAL. BLAST. MORE THAN THAT, I BET ITS A MONEY THING. I CARRIED A 9MM SPRINGFIELD SUB, A ND ALL MY HITS WERE GROUPED PRETTY GOOD. IF SF USES THE MK 23 WHY NOT EVERYONE? OR GIVE SOMEONE THE CHOICE.

This weapon should be given to clothing and sales for the good it did for us. I used one..or shall I say I had one assigned to me while in Iraq and after a few days the mags started to stick or it would have a feeding problem, this is after cleaning the weapon with very little oil everyday. The weapon turned into a "Lunch Gun"! Anytime I went to chow this piece of junk went with me. Bring back the 45!!!

I agree the .45 is a better choice. The 9mm is underpowered and the .40 has about the same balistics as the .45. When in the position of needing what will get the job done, nothing is better than a .45.
