I agree w/ 7550274, that is an M16 unless they changed the MP5 and made it for a bigger calibur then you would have the M16. I wounder who they hired to set up the pics w/ the names. Whoever it is needs to be fired.

Actually, the caliber of the M16A2 is a great deal smaller than the MP5. However, the round of the M16A2 carries more gunpowder per cartidge, which is probably what you meant.

THE MP-5 IS A GREAT WEAPON, THE CHOICE OF ALOT OF SPEC. OPS UNITS. I HAVE A FEELING THE SCAR WILL EITHER REPLACE IT OR OPRATORS WILL HAVE A CHOICE. I THINK THE SPRINGFIELD NEW WEAPONS MAY BE THE BEST OF THE LOT. 7.62 IS A LOT MORE POWER. THE SERVICES HAVE A LOT OF GOOD CHOICES,INCLUDING THE XM-8,H-K. WE ARE DOING OK IN SMALL ARMS. LETS CHOOSE WISELY.....

although i like the mp5 submachine gun, i still would feel uneasy about taking a 9mm to a fire fight. if it were up to me i would adopt the ump .45 submachine gun. more powerful and accurate. and it costs less to produce than an mp5, so it would please the bean counters.

I have used the HK mp-5 a5 and the HK UMP many times they both are great firearms but if I had to use one in combat I would go with the UMP, the UMP is accurate and uses the powerful .45 (or .40 s&w), and the UMP is pretty easy to control.

That is great news to hear the UMP'S kick isnt so bad like i read in other mags. the drawback may be rate of fire. on the other hand, you hit a human with 3 rounds, chances are they wont get up. if they do, its gotta be thier last action on earth. i'd pump another burst into him....lights out. HEY, I LIKE THE UMP. Check into rounds per minute, and judge for urself Smile

I own a civilian version of each of these weapons in the disscusion. My HK UMP is in a .45 cal and was built for me by Top notch parts from my HK USC. they installed a UMP trigger group and stock.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c108/01coltcolt/AUMPSHORTFS.jpg My MP-5 is petty sweet too!

But if I had to carry either one into a combat zone, it would be the UMP. Greater knockdown power at greater distances. But both are made for Close quarters combat. Not battle weapons.

the MP-5 is the choice weapon for cqb for the SEALS. why not the UMP? i don't know. ARMY SF seem to like thier M-4. Then again, you use different equipment to fit the mission. now, H&K comes out with the 416. wat will replace the M-16? i have no clue. early i read XM-8 was the one. now its not. the SCAR? i read thats gonna be a SOG toy. watever they replace the 16 with, its gotta be cost effective, and mass produced. anybody hear anything?

XM-8 weapon system has been scraped,The UMP from HK in 45 might be replacing the MP-5 with Spec ops & SWAT teams world wide,City Police SWAT in my county are already using the UMP possibly in 40 s/w in their raids.

anyone know wat JSOC is using now? i bet watevr it is it will come from H&K. the 416 is a good possibility, as is the SCAR. as far as the regular army, the M-16A2 and A3 will be here for a while. as will the M-4 carbine. the M-4 is lightweight, same rounds as M-16, AND has rails for all kinds of goodies. i have the civvie version from ROCK RIVER, and i love it. got a tac lite, and a TRIJICON scope. its well worth it.

the mp-5 has generally been considered the best SMG out there. lots of spec. ops use it. H&K came out with the MP-7 A1. its a 4,6mm x 30 sub that exceeds NATO standards. it penetrated a thin layer of titanium and 20 layers of kevlar. the KSK, German SF, has switched to it. nice piece.
