FROM WAT I KNOW IT HAS NOT BEEN CANCELED,THE ARMY OPENED UP THE COMPETITION AGAIN. I HOPE THEY FIELD IT, ALONG WITH OICW, M1-A SOCOMII, sniper teams armed with a variation of m-14. a sqaud must be diverse, with many options, and alot of anti-armor, bunker busting SMAAWS, LAWS, JAVELINS, ALOT OF FIREPWER. WE GOTTA MOW THESE PIGS DOWN, ENTOMB THEM, KILL WITH THE MOST VIOLENT WAYS. LOVE THE A-10, ALWAYS GOOD TO HAVE 1, 2 LOITERING SOMEWHERE CLOSE. THE XM-8 COMES IN DIFFERENT CALIBERS, BARREL LENGHTS, ETC. XM-8 IS A WINNER.
GUESS I WAS WRONG, XM-8 IS A LOSER. WHY? I HAVE NO CLUE. WAT WE HAVE NOW IS VERY GOOD I THINK. WAT ABOUT THE SCAR? WAT HAPPENS TO THE M-1A SOCOM II? WILL ALL BE CANCELLED? SHAME IF THEY CANCEL SCAR AND M-1A. I BETTER SHUT UP ILL WIND UP JINXING THEM.
H&K think they can name thier price, some guy said it ain't all that. hey, i never fired 1. i guess we will just go with the 16. ROBINSON ARMS is the cheapest, looks like a nice piece. lets see.....XM-8 IS DEAD.
well, its not money. this rifle is LESS expensive than the M-16, M-4. made by a company that continues to put out qaulity products. wat is a soldiers life worth? the politicians seem to know. thats wat is wrong with the procurement process, too many hands in the money bag.
SHUT UP AND DO YOUR REVISION HK FANS..XM8 is being developed by the Heckler-Koch USA, a subsidiary of famous German Heckler-Koch company. According to the present plans, the XM8 should enter full production circa 2007 CHRIST THE NUMBER OF YOU GUYS THAT BLUNDER ON WHEN A 5 SECOND WEBSERCH TELLS YOU THIS INFO
yeah, we know. also the last thing heard was the M-8 was dead. where did you hear different? link? website? about that .45 SMG, pics? link? please, i like to see this.
saw that Super Criss .45cal smg. it only has a 15 rnd mag. if they could increase it to 20, 25, it could have a future as a PDW. i dont see any military applications for this. but, you could clear a room with it, and it would fit under ur coat its that small. reminds me of the H&K MP-7. the 7 has more rounds, and that makes it my pick.
the composite stock melts after sustained firing. you can rig a c-mag to it and i guess the stock cant take the heat. H&k also uses hard plastic mags for the G-36, 416. most of wat they put out is top notch. the stock melting comment sounds like its coming from someone that knows. the Israeli's had the problem of the pistol grip heating up bad on the Magal. it was fixed. another good weapon from IDI.
the M-8 performed well in the "shoot off", when compared to all the other rifles, it had the LEAST amount of stoppages. As far as the polymer around the barrel melting, I NEVER said that. I was told it heats up the grip, and the barrel gets hot. This is second hand information that was passed by Typical08. When the politicians are pushed out of the procurement process, maybe the right weapon will get to the people who use them. As far as Spec. Ops go, they pick and choose wat they use.
I don't even want to read all the replies. Maybe someone answered the question already. But it was because the makers skipped some steps in the in process of becomming the next issued weapon and a competitor sued. That's it.
