the gi bill started in 1985 we were never told we could cotribute then. we had veap in 1982, this was a joke compared to the gi bill.the amercan legion was trying to get people that servrd in the no gi bill period granfathered in. I want to know why we were not told about gi bill when it started in 85
I was in the Army from 1983 to 1986 and was under VEAP also. I got the $12,000 kicker for signing up infantry for 3 years. I was never given the opportunity to switch programs either. However, the MGIB didn't pay much more than VEAP back then. But at least I would've got $1500 of the $2700 I put into VEAP back.
