Can I use the GI Bill to pay for my tuition upfront, or will I have to be re-imbursed? I would like to take an EMT course.

First of all make sure wherever you are taking your EMT training that it is an approved facility by the VA. Most places are but a few are not. The best you can do as far as getting money up front for tuition is to tell your school's Veteran's Certifying Official to put down that you want "ADVANCED PAY". This will pay you a month to two months money up front. However the VA has to receive and work your claim for education benefits 10 days prior to the start of your training. Now having said that...not all schools are approved or will accept advance pay. So plan ahead and get all your paperwork in ASAP.
