I'm currently investigating different online schools for the I.T. field. What does anyone know and feel about CTU ( Colorado tech.University)?
I know about Phoenix What about other online I.T. schools?
Any help for a new comer would be great.

I just moved from CO, and was attending CTU for IT. My personal opinion is that it is ENTIRELY too expensive, and I feel they hand out good grades. The plus was classes were small, and the teachers were very nice and helpful. I like a challenge, and I was worried about quality, so I stopped attending. They are regionally accredited, so you should have no concerns there.

I decided to go with Liberty. Military and thier spouses get books basically free (book vouchers), and they are cheaper than other online schools that I have seen. They cost 250 p/h, and are regionally accredited. I am majoring in MIS, but I haven't made it to the core classes, so can't help you as far as the IT classes in particular. Well, hope I helped. If you have anymore questions, I'll try to help.

I have been attending Liberty University for two years and I am very happy with them also. Ypu get $100 book voucher for eac class you take. The downside is if you are not a Christian or interested in Christan related course, as this is a Christian college and each degree requires some Biblical like credits to be taken.

depending on what you want to pay per month I say look at schools in Indiana- I attend Indiana University online and its not that expensive and its an actual brick and mortar college, also Troy State is a little less expensice than I.U. Im not a fan of Phoenix sorry. UMASS is a great school but theyre expensive-they offer alot of certificates though.

If seeking an IT bachelor's degree that can be earned through distance learning (online), there are numerous options available from real brick and mortar schools. Many programs are much, much cheaper and more accepted than Phoenix, Kaplan, Walden, or CTU. Here are a few.

- Fort Hays State University
- Western Kentucky University
- Bellevue University
- Liberty University
- Georgia WebBSIT
- Duquesne University
- Dakota State University
- University of West Florida

Bellevue and WKU are a bit expensive, but also have solid IT programs. The cheapest programs on my list are from Fort Hays State and University West Florida (UWF). UWF has an "out-of-state" waiver which brings tuition costs down to around $440 per bachelor's degree course. Fort Hays and UWF are also very military/veteran friendly.

Duquesne offers a 50% veterans tuition discount. After the discount, I think each class costs around $750 for undergrad. Quality of instruction at DU is excellent, in my opinion.

Dakota State has a set rate for instate and out-of-state students at $660 per class. The university offers online IT degrees ranging from bachelor to doctorate.

The Georgia WebBSIT is actually a bachelor's degree from consortium of 5 Georgia universities. You must gain acceptance at one the schools, and your degree comes from that school even though some coursework may occur through one of the other four. Tuition per class costs around $873.

To save even more money, I'd advise taking the first two years through a community college. Out-of-state students pay $390 per online class at Central Texas College, also military friendly. Darton College in Georgia charges $300 per online class.

Liberty U is a good choice too. A veteran can expect to spend $7,500 total for an online master's degree in management there, which is quite inexpensive when compared to similar programs at other schools. Plus, I think Liberty has a nice variety of online associate's and bachelor's degree programs. By the way, the Lady Flames competed in this year's NCAA women's basketball tournament.

UMass and Penn State are top-notch universities, although tuition at both is somewhat expensive.

Whatever your choice, please avoid the for-profit schools, such as Phoenix, Capella, Kaplan, CTU, etc. Aside from outrageous tuition costs, degrees from these "universities" are occasionally negatively perceived, both in academia and the workforce. And don't even get me started on ITT-Tech. $37,000+ tuition for an associate's degree should be considered a crime.

Look at Aspen University. They have some great deals on programs. I do not know the quality.
