I was involuntairly separated form the Army. I recieved an honarable discharge, but HAD NOT fulfilled the minimum time required. My discharge was for Parenthood. I was married, but then my husband and I divorced, and I retained custody. Why am I being denied for benefits? Can I appeal this? I paid the full $1200 for my benefits and DID NOT want to leave the Army, they kicked me out because I was a single mom! I want my $1200 or really want my GI benefits! Any suggestions?

If you are released early after being called up for two years, you may be eligible for benefits depending on the separation reason. Some examples of qualifying separation reasons are:
(1) Service-connected disability; (2) Medical condition preexisting service; (3) Hardship; (4) Reduction in force; (5) Physical or mental condition not characterized as a disability which interfered with the performance of duty and was not the result of the individual's misconduct; or (6) Convenience of the government provided the individual served at least 20 continuous months. Was your discharge based on Hardship? |
