RAPID RIVER — John F. Miller, 67, of 9725 EE.25 Road, Rapid River (St. Jacques), passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.

He was born Aug. 2, 1940, in Holly, Mich., and was the son of George and Ida (Dumas) Miller. He graduated from Holly High School in 1958 and then served in the United States Marines from 1961 until he was honorably discharged in 1964.

John married the former Ruth Gomez on Nov. 9, 1968, in Holly.

He worked at General Motors/A.C. Delco for 30 years until he retired in 1992. After his retirement John and Ruth moved to Munising in 1992 and then they moved to St. Jacques in 1997.

He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, the Gladstone Masonic Lodge 396, the Delta Shrine Club, was active in the Clowns of the Shrine Club, member of the Disabled American Veteran's and the Vietnam Veteran's of America.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and riding horses. John also played Santa Clause at Christmas time for disabled children and many other events for children.

While he lived in Holly, he served on the Holly Volunteer Ambulance.

John F. Miller is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Julie (Michael) Boothe of New Braunfels, Texas, Trina (Craig) Allen of Kingsford, Tracy (Mark) Lektzian of Gladstone; son, John David Miller of New Mexico; 10 grandchildren, Kyle Miller, Holman Allen, Joshua Allen, Watson Allen, Jacob Allen, Hannah Allen, Ashley Lektzian, Elizabeth Lektzian, Olivia Allen and Journey Boothe; three great-grandchildren, Ava Holman, Dillon Watson, Isabell Watson; brother, George (Linda) Miller of West Branch, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Steven Miller.

Visitation will be held form 2 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at the ANderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Delta County Veteran's Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services celebrating the life of John F. Miller will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, at the Memorial Untied Methodist Church in Gladstone with Rev. Jackie Roe officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral service in the church fellowship hall.

Burial will take place in the Fernwood Cemetery.
