One of many things about the Skipper...he was able to keep topics and conversations quite lively. He was highly educated and wise in the ways of the world. He kept us in stiches at one moment...literally rolling off our chairs in laughter. The next moment...he was all business... He will be sorely missed. Marine Barracks, Heaven's Gate, is getting a fine Marine.
I had the pleasure of talking with him on the phone many times.
He was a pleasure to talk to person to person.
As Sgt Pap, aka Nomad's email told me when I first came here, "Don't judge what you read on the screen. The meaning may be much different. The tone of voice is important."
Captain Hank was from the old Corps just like all of us will be some day. And some of us are closer than some.
I see many from the current wars and times change. Yet stay the same.
So with Captain Hank Sabourin being gone I post this:
His career started in Korea. A time when many of us were not born yet.
With some searching this is what he posted on 20 Feb. I did not catch it then but it sounded like he did not plan to be around long.

I have prostrate cancer and have received 43 treatments of radiation - The local Veterans Affairs Officer advised that I should file a claim for 100% disability (now at 50% for PTSD). We filed and the VA came back and asked for certain documents - the Veterans Affairs Officer responded, by telling them, that all documents requested were in my VA file. To this point, no further replies. I want disability to become real, since my wife will gain $995.00 monthly, in the event of my death.
