I remember Capt.Hank from his posting here. I think he goes back to The Few. He didn't take any shat and could give as good as he got.

A fiesty and proud Marine has gone to be with those that are guarding the gates.

Give 'em hell Hank! Rest in Peace Marine.

I have blasted past the Lewiston/Auburn exit on the Maine Turnpike so many times over the past coupla' years. Sometimes I'd beep the horn. He had always wanted me to stop, or meet someplace...

Over the years, we'd had several conversations. Mostly at first, to growse about that Phuch-nut Warhorse. Wink

Fiesty to the end.

A line frome "Braveheart" comes to mind:

Every man dies. Not every man really lives.

Hank lived.

Semper Fi, Marine.

Once again I am so very saddened and sorry to read such a thread.

Captain Hank was very nice to me when I first came here to MODF. He and I exchanged many emails and he helped me determine some medals and ribbons that I wanted to request for my Grandfather that he had never been awarded. Captain Hank walked me through that whole process and he did it for one Korean War Veteran from another.

He paid me one of the highest compliments I have ever received when, after many emails discussing trying to secure these awards for my Grandfather, he said to me "I am proud of you for doing this for your Grandfather. It is my feeling that maybe our world is not so bad afterall. Keep up the good work."

I will miss you, Captain Hank and I thank you again for taking the time to help me through that process. I am so very glad I had the opportunity to meet such a man.

Rest in peace, Captain Hank Sabourin. May the angels lead you into paradise and may the Marines guarding the streets there welcome their Brother home.

For those that didn't know, the Skipper was a "Mustanger". A Mustang Officer is one who rises up through the enlisted ranks and later receives a commission, as did the Skipper. Though I don't recall the circumstances of his commissioning, or what enlisted rank he held before that, I do know some of the Corps' finest officers were Mustangs.

Hank was firm, but fair, in his posturing and postings. Not one to back off an inch on anything he believed in and not one to withhold his thoughts and beliefs. Colorful? Like the proverbial rainbow. His musings will be missed here.

Attention!

Present Arms!

Two!

As you were!

Semper Fi,
Wayne

My sincere Condolences to his Family.

He and I certainly had our differences, but he was a Marine, and as such, we are at a loss with his passing.

RIP Marine, and Semper Fidelis.

I've only been on here for a few weeks... I read somthing the Captain had to say on a thread. I thought at the time that there weren't that many officers on the forum. That that, just in it's self, showed me somthing. Wether I agreed or not he always got my attention. I'd say thats leadership. Semper Fi sir. RIP

My being a civilian always rubbed him wrong. Yet, I did email back and forth with him a time or two and he was always true to himself, as only a Marine would be. My prayers go out to his family.

Rest In Peace, Sir.
