It is done. May his soul and the souls of all our faithfully departed rest in peace. Thank you for ALL of your sincere condolences throughout the last few days. You have helped our family find peace.
Honor and color guard alike were present. Without your support we would not have had that. For that I, and my family thanks you. Be safe all and thank you for being a part of my dear brothers life.
Got your message today and a phone call too. We all, my family that is, appreciate your efforts. They will be there tomorrow evening and Monday morning for the funeral. God Bless You and all of you. Our family is grateful for this website. And I thank you SSGTDeCurtis for making this happen for us. Without you, or your support, we would have been vanquished from one of the sides of his life that HE cherished. And he truly cherished his online life.
Many prayers to you and all....
With deepest sincerity, John Shrader May He Rest In Peace...... Finally at last........
Johnny, I knew Don, like most on here, by what he wrote. That doesn't detract from my personal feeling of loss. All us Marines are brothers and the loss of one hurts us all. I wish only that I had known him better, that he might have come to me for help with his demons.
I'm a member of the Marine Corps League and have contacted the Commandants of both the Department of Illinois and the local Detachment in Burbank to help with honors. I know they will do him proud, along with the active duty Marines that will be sent by Headquarters, Marine Corps.
I know that Don is resting easier now, standing his new post at Heavens gate along with many other Marines.
hank you for all of your prayers and thoughts. The repsones are overwhemling. I have printed them ALL and posted them on a board along with several photos of my brother throughout the years. There was no gentler or kinder individual. And we will remember him as that. Thank you all very much.
Rest in peace my brother. I too enjoyed his posts and I trust the family will remember that Don lives on in their lives as they recall the many wonderful memories they had with him.
Semper Fi, guard the gates of Heaven well.
To be, or not to be! Who be, me? You be, who? Hoo Wee!Pompous Profundus Expoundous!
I did not know Sgt. Shrader, but he and I were with different battalions in 5th Marines in RVN at around the same time and we probably ate some of the same dirt. Welcome home bro, I wish I had been able to shoulder some of your burden and lighten your load a little. "And when I reach those pearly gates, St. Peter I will tell, another Marine reporting sir, I've served my time in hell". May God bless and keep your soul eternally. Semper Fidelis - Ike Baker
Rest in Peace Bro. You will be missed. Thank You for your Service and gracing us with your company.
