Robert Frank Ladner
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 18, 2008 at 12 p.m. in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for Robert Frank Ladner, age 80, of Picayune, MS who died Thursday, February 14, 2008 in LaCombe, LA. Burial will be in the New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home, Picayune, MS. Father Michael Snyder will officiate at the service, and will be assisted by Dr. Keith Warden. A native of Kiln, MS, he was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Bay St. Louis, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank E. and Agnes Peterson Ladner; Seven brothers: Howard, Clyde, Edward, Ray, John, Michael, and Donald Ladner; and one son: Kenneth Robert Ladner. Survivors include His wife of 58 years, Dorothy Stockstill Ladner of Picayune, MS; His Daughter: Louise Ladner Miller of LaPlace, LA; His Granddaughter: Ashley Lane Miller of Mandeville, LA. He had numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and a miniature Schnauzer Dog, named Oliver, whom he dearly loved. Mr. Ladner enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 6-26-1945. He served in the Pacific Area from 12-7-1945 to 9-17-1946 and in China. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps on 10-23-1946. He was a life member of Veterans of the Foreign Wars. He was a graduate of Kiln High School, Pearl River Jr. College, and the University of Southern MS. His educational career lasted more than 30 years. He served as Superintendent of Education for Hancock County, was a Coach of Physical Education, Basketball, Track, and Football and served as a classroom teacher and principal. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 18, 2008 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
