Trenton - Roger Arthur Hemond passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville. He was 67 years old. Roger was born on January 31, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Omer & Aurora Hemond. Roger moved to Trenton,FL in 1978 from North Miami. Mr. Hemond was in law enforcement for 40 years. He was employed with the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Department. He was a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He was a charter member of the Tri-County Marine Corp League, a member of the American Legion & Pass Master of William T. Carlton Masonic Lodge #46 of Trenton. He was also a member of Trenton United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Carstensen Hemond of Trenton, a daughter, Yvette Cordell of South Carolina, 2 sons: Roger D. Hemond of Tampa & David B. Hemond of Gainesville, 6 sisters: Therese (George) Etlinger of Clearwater, Rita Hemond of California, Berthe Cecile (Albert) Giroux of Canada, Emma Whiteside of Texas, Dolorese (Amjad) Umur of New Jersey & Claire (Bruce) Carruthers of Michigan, 2 brothers: Homer (Katty) Hemond of Michigan & Joseph Robert Hemond of Chiefland & 5 grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 11:00A.M. in the Chapel at Watson Funeral Home with Pastor H.D. Cribb conducting the service with Masonic rights following. Burial will be at a later date at Bushnell National Cemetery.
