Emile "E.L." Stieffel, 79, of Diamondhead, MS passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2008 in Bay St. Louis, MS. He was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Hancock County for the past 22 years. He was of the Catholic Faith and a member of St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland, MS. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School and Tulane University in New Orleans, LA and was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Marines and the Air Forces. E.L. retired from Bell South after 35 years of service as District Manager of Real Estate. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, American Legion Post #77 in Waveland, Bay/Waveland Yacht Club, and the Choctaw Carnival Club. He was also past President for 10 years of Jourdan River Isles Improvement Association.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Emile & Arthelia Stieffel, father, Alton Stieffel, brothers, Kenny, Jimmy, & Robert Stieffel, and his sisters, Nell Bourgeois & Jane Olivier.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 31 years, Donna Simpson Stieffel of Diamondhead, MS, 3 sons, Emile L. Stieffel, III of Harvey, LA, David Stieffel & wife, Rosanna of Algiers, LA, Mark Stieffel & wife, Sharon of Algiers, LA, brother, Thomas Stieffel of Metairie, LA, sisters, Annamae Silbernagel of Metairie, LA, Ann Bateman of Picayune, MS, Ida Miller, Aggie Anderson, & Myra Ladner all of Bay St. Louis, MS, 6 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, & numerous nieces & nephews.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland, MS with Interment in Fayard Cemetery in Waveland, MS.
