Michael J. Bochetto Share E-mail Visit Guest Book
Bochetto, Michael J., 99, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on September 28, 2009. Michael was born on January 6, 1910 in Brooklyn, NY and has been a resident of this area since 1970. He retired in 1969 after serving 30 years with the Federal Government, of which 29 of those years were with the Department of the Navy in Washington, DC. Michael began his career with the Dept. of the Navy as an Under Clerk CAF-1 and retired as a GS-14 Supervisory Contract Specialist. He was appointed a Supervisory Contract Specialist in April 1962 and designated a Contracting Officer in May 1962. In 1966 he was selected as the Contracting Officer for the Deep Submergence System Project which provided for the development of the Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) with a capability of undersea rescue of trapped submariners. While on this assignment he received a letter of commendation from the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (installations & logistics) via the Office of the Commander (NSSC) for his part in the manner in which the USS Sanctuary (AH10) was modernized and reactivated. He also received a letter of appreciation from the project Manager of DSSP for his excellent performance while at DSSP. Michael served with the USMC during WWII from March 1942 through October 1944. He was also the Commander of the Washington D.C. Stanley Church Depew Post No. 30 of the American Legion in 1956. Michael served as Sec/Treas and President of Parliament House Condominium in Pompano Beach and in the same capacities at Whitehall Condominiums at Camino Real in Boca Raton. Michael is survived by nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday, October 1st at the Babione Funeral Home (East Chapel) South East Corner of Glades Road at U.S. 1. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Jude Catholic Church (21689 Toledo Road) on Friday, October 2nd at 1:30 pm. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. The family has requested expressions of sympathy be made to Saint Jude Catholic Church for the Saint Jude Hunger Program
