Im a 92 F in a combat aviation brigade. I find the job a little bit boring. Its not a bad assignment just want to do a little more. Build that resume. Anyways my friend is a 13F at Drum and I was wondering how hard it is to cross train jobs. Im re-enlisting in January and was hoping that could give me some leverage!

Cross train? You can certainly access and get credit for 13F courseware through correspondence courses, but it really won't help you come re-enlistment time. Re-enlistment doesn't usually involve negotiations like that. The army either wants you to stay and will offer incentives to soldiers to do so, or they don't and offer nothing extra. I don't think they will deny any re-enlistments without cause or bar to re-enlist. But, things like schools, station of choice, money, etc. are incentives they may not offer if the MOS is over-strength. The only time you can bargain is if you have something specific they REALLY want, like language or other certifications. Anything you can pick up "on the go" between now and January probably won't fit that category.
You can maybe re-enlist for a different MOS, and that will depend on your qualifications. 13F needs all 1's in your PULHES, 100 in the FA portion of the ASVAB, normal color vision, and able to obtain a Security Clearance (confidential up to E5, Secret E6+).
It will also depend on the current needs for certain MOSes Army wide. See your retention NCO for info on that.
Sorry I use the term cross-train and Im meaning changing MOS's. The term cross train is used in the air force which is what I was in before the Army. Well Im qualified for the job. I have no profile. I have over 100 in the Fa portion, normal color vision and I have a secret clearance. So thats all good. I guess when it comes re-enlistment time I will talk to my rentention NCO and see if becoming a "fister" is available. Thanks for the info.
Good luck. If you do want to go FIST, the things students have the most trouble with are Map Reading / Land Nav and math (basic +-*/ with a little algebra). Brush up on those and you'll be golden if you go that route.
