Ok my husband is currently deployed as a 68K (lab tech)...he will return sometime in late June early July. He then leaves in August for 13F AIT...I know this is a 7 week course at Ft. Sill...he is to return back here in September. Well I decided to look up his ASK and it says in November he is to report to Ft. Bliss AGS. Does anyone know what exactly AGS stands for...I have read several different things...but I am leaning towards Army General School or Advanced Gun System. If this does mean Army General School which schooling could it be? I know in order for us to go with him if it is schooling the school has to be at least 28 weeks long. This just really sucks cause we are at Ft. Lewis right now...he is actually attached to the 31st CSH at Ft. Bliss while on deployment. His total deployment is 17 months cause he had to report to Bliss early for training. His new orders for Bliss are right at the 90 day mark to PCS after deployment. Now I know this is the life of the military and I can totally accept it...but we have 3 little girls and one of them does not even know her daddy since he had to leave 5 days after she was born. So what are the chances he will deploy again in such a shot period of time...from my understanding you are suppose to get 6 months before you are deployable again...but this does not pertain to him cause he is switching his MOS so he does not get that stability. Also if this is not any type of schooling at Ft Bliss please tell me how we can get out of these orders to that crap hole post. Our youngest one is on EFMP...does Bliss have EFMP services? Thanks in advance
I just found an acronym site...could it possibly mean Air Gunners School?

I just found
I can't help you with AGS, but it sounds like Adjutant General something. After AIT, he will be re-assigned based on needs of the army, and Fort Bliss is expanding- building several BCTs over the next 2 years, so your husband will probably be assigned to them.
Bottom line, after he returns from AIT in SEP, he has 45-60 days to return to FT Lewis, pack your belongings, clear his current unit, and move to FT Bliss and sign in.
I have not idea what the current schedule for deployments from FT Bliss is, but most new units have spent at least a year getting ready before they deployed.
