Too dumb to care! |
I'm a little confused, can someone explain a typical structure of an artillery battery.
I've read it can contain anywhere from 6-8 guns, but how many platoons? Is it true that 2 guns per platoon?? Beware of OPSEC thanks |

Search FM 6-50 for FM 3-09.50. They are unclass.
There are 2 types of batteries in the US Army. DS units (in BCTs) have 2 batteries, each with 2 platoons of 4 guns each (8 guns/battery, 16/battalion). GS units (in FA BDEs) have 3 batteries, each with 2 platoons of 3 guns each (6/battery, 18/battalion). Light DS units used to be battery based (no platoon organization) with 6 guns per battery, but that changed with modularity. |
