google it. TIR tables are far from hard to come by with a little bit of effort.

Better yet, just get a copy of the Advancement Manual. As a Chief, you should have at least a passing familiarity with it.

OK, no problem. Seeing as your profile was blocked I had no way of knowing who/what you were or were claiming to be. Good to see someone thinking ahead. However, things change, and just because the TIR for E-7 to E-8 is at the three-year mark now doesn't mean it will be there in, say, 5 years.

Navy 77 The TIR has been 3 years for long time. I made CPO in my 9th year in 67 and took my SCPO test in my 12th made it in my 13th. So that 3 year goes back at least 40 yrs. Good for you looking to the future. Take every test every chance you get and every opportunity to advance you can. Even the Seaman to Admiral if that program is still there. TAK AMCS

My brother-in-law claims to have made E-9 in the 60's Navy with less than 5 yrs in service, total! I posted this info on another site, and got 42 replies with around 38 of them agreeing with me that it is absolutely impossible! My hubby spent 26+years in the Air Force, and never saw anyone make E-9 in less than 14 years. What do the folks on this site think? Thanks.

Under the DPEP program, you can come in as a Chief if you have the appropriate education and experience on the outside - though First Class is the highest I've seen it happen.
