I was watching 30,000 Leagues Under The Sea and there is a character in the movie that has a master chief anchor on one collar and a lieutenant pin on the other collar. Has anyone ever heard of this? I can post a pic if someone wants to see.

I looked this movie up, and I would never watch a movie with Lorenzo Llamas in it. So post a pic you want to.

lol that’s what I thought but I would think a movie would try to be fairly accurate. Maybe they are scared of getting sued by the Navy? |

If the movie was set during the time beards and goatees were allowed no problem. However, the person pictured definitely needs to be duckwalked to a barbershop and given a haircut, as well as a lesson on how to dress themselves.
I do hope the Navy did not provide any cooperation/assistance with the production of this movie. |

good morning
it’s an honesty thing. actors are just that. they can NOT wear a correct military uniform if they are not entitled. any movie or tv show you watch if you look at insignia, ribbons, medals rank unit patches there is something wrong with each. the only actor always in the correct uniform and wearing proper awards was audie murphy in his bio "to hell and back". why was this allowed...everything he wore was earned. so it is mash,,,ncis,,,jag,,,heartbreak ridge..everyone one of them has a uniform fault to be out of uniform. probably a law rather than an agreement but i remember it from the audie murphy bio. gmcm |

The movies are rarely correct with their depictions of military personnel. As for lorenzo well he must be a Master Chief junior Grade? LOL

Seems to be movie dependent. Hunt for Red October was pretty good, even to the poopie suits and Soviet uniforms.
Of course, the Nav provided full support for that movie. Always seems to be the deciding factor. |

10 USC, Subtitle A, Part II, Chapter 45, Section 772 (f) states: While portraying a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or
Marine Corps, an actor in a theatrical or motion-picture production may wear the uniform of that armed force if the portrayal does not tend to discredit that armed force. Bob |

According to my son, whom I consider an authority in these matters (he has a MFA in film from AFI in Hollywood) a well made movie will try to reflect with accuracy and in accuracte detail all areas being filmed. If this does not happen then the filmmaker is lazy or stupid.

I was just about to look this up, thanks for posting it, sir. For some reason the rumor that there must be some tiny flaw to make it "not a real uniform" for movie purposes has always annoyed me. MIKE |
