I'm looking for some professional advise from the mess. I'm in the aviation field, and have been on the same platform for sometime now. I am full systems qualified and recently had an issue, safety wise with a QAR. I approached the QAR and tried to point out this persons mistake, very politly, and it was taken the wrong way I guess. I was told by my QAR that we don't follow all our tasks, they take too much time. With this I want into Maint. control with what had happened. It was a pretty large safety issue, could cause serious injury/death or damage to aircraft. I told Maint what had happened thinking this would resolve the issue, which was blown off. I then went to my division CPO. Once I told him what had happened he had me write a statement which was given to the QA Senior Chief. This was late last week. Today I was pulled aside by a First Class who told me that I need to watch my back, the Maint rep I first went to made some comments to the First Class implying that I was being targeted. Along the lines of I will be going to mast.
I don't know how to handle this, if anyone has any advise it would be outstanding.
Thank you Chiefs

1st off you should have gone to your shop supervisor to explain the situation. He than should have found out what the problem was by talking to your QAR. This should have resolved the problem. If your supervisor didn't correct the problem the Div CPO is next in the chain. He should have talked to shop po and QAR. After getting a answer Maint Control should have been his next stop to find out who blew the situation off. He should have had the QA CPO find out what the problem was and why "all tasks are not done because it takes too much time".Than it was his responsibility to follow this charge of neglect up the chain. If it as you say it involved the safety and possible death this is a serious charge and to have Maint Control blow this off can lead to court martial charges. If your assertaions are right than both QAR should have their say in front of the maint.off to explain why they didn't think it was a safety issue. The M/O if he's worth his salt should get to the end of this. Finally always use your chain of command. If as you say there are threats than again Div CPO, Div Off, CMDMC,XO,CO. I'm sure it wouldn't have to go this far up the chain. Never let your integrity be compromised as long as you've got the facts right.

AMCS,
Thank you for the advise. I went directly to Maint Control because it was going on at the time. I then went straight to my Div CPO because I am the LPO of my shop. This is both a positive and negative. It looks great on my eval because I am a young 2nd class and have been placed into an LPO position however I sometime find myself overwhelmed with some situation, such as this. So again thank you for you advise.
I've alway been told "Ask the Chief"

Congrats on being the shop LPO. This is all the more you should have the backing of the Div CPO. If he had the confidence to put you in charge of the w/c he should have your back. You put everything in writing, he should be following up with M/C CPO and the QA CPO to find out what the problem is getting to the bottom of the problem. I just can't believe it's been a week and this wasn't resolved. Is the person in the QA DIV a senior to you?
I would think that the DIV CPO would look to put him back in the W/C.
It can be overwhelming being in charge when you are a young PO and have older PO's under you. I know from expierence because I was a PO1 in 4 yrs and a CPO in my 9th yr. I've been retired a long time 32 yrs and leadership traits change.
Just keep up your good work and don't lose confidence.

I think that EVERY Sailor who has ever done 20 years in the Navy, has had AT LEAST one command where he was the "marked man" - the person that the upper chain of command keeps that close eye on, just waiting for that Sailor to do something that they can take him to mast for.

I've been that "marked man" at two commands, both PSD's - I don't know what it is, but me and PSD's just don't agree with eachother.
