I have seen fleeters wear their utilities with the dixie cup. How about the Seabees?

I believe the question that showerbabies asked is in regard to the uniform worn by selectees undergoing professional development prior to pinning. Some Messes will have them wear utilities with a white hat, some won't.

As to the question regarding dungarees and utilities, no they aren't the same - difference is in the materials used and cut of the trousers.

So if I was in from (August) 2000 - 2004, which one was I wearing?

Given the period you cite, I would say you would have been wearing utilities. There were some Sailors wearing dungarees, but that uniform was on the way out the door in 2000.

Seabees normally wear BDU's (or CUU's as they are called now), so the soft cover or hardhat is normal.

Selectees often wear a hardhat that is half white(CPO and above) and have green (PO1 and below) during initiation.

For our transition we Bees here in Anbar province wore 3 color flowerpots, err boonies on our heards. As did our brothers and sisters in Marine digi, all boonies, no 8 points until the big day. FYI, there were 20 new chiefs pinned on the 21st September in Al Asad. It was a great ceremony.
