I am finnished with my package and waiting for my 1306 to get back from my CO so i can fax it off. I retook my asvab and scored high enough to qualify without a waiver but i am really concerned with how difficult the the academic portion is going to be, since i have read alot of people wash out. I have never really been good at studying and this is whats got me the most concerned, any tips on how to prepare for this part ahead of time? And also, my swimming isnt the greatest, im working on it and can do it in around 10:45 but i always seem to get water in my nose when doing the CSS, is there any tips that can be provided for that? Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

As far as the academics at NAVSCOLEOD goes, if you apply yourself and take the time during study hall to study and really pay attention, then you should be ok. Yes, some don't make it, but if you give it all you can, that's all you can do. I would be more concerned with dive school. That's the big hurdle for you now. Your swim times will improve. Have you checked out the EOD Warning Order. If you haven't, do that. You're gonna get a lot of water in your hose in dive school. Dive school is there to put you in uncomfortable situations in the water and see if you can overome them. Keep working on everything. Also, if you can, work on treading water and swimming with fins. Good luck.

Yeah i think i read every post on this website and you did mention that if you just apply yourself than they will help you out, is there any math involved? I wouldnt think so but i guess its possible. And i did google EOD warning order and i couldnt seem to find anything, if your referring to the workout plan they have on the official site, than i have looked at that. Thanks alot for your time

Yeah, the EOD Warning Order is a workout plan. Yes, there is some math involved, but nothing to worry about. The thing that I observed with some classmates was just that they would get very nervous when tests came up. You're going to get nervous, but use that energy in a positive way. You will get plenty of time to study so you will be prepared. By the way, good on you for reading all of the previous posts on here. You'll find a lot of good info from jw and neod. I'm still a neophyte EOD tech. Good luck. If you have anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask.

husker,

You have me a bit concerned. Positive mental state is a must, but your concerns are valid. It is imperative that you work on your study skills. EOD school is fast paced and mastering your study skills is most important. However, the pre school in great lakes and dive school are your first hurdles. As for water in the nose, I suggest taking formal swimming lessons with breathing control as the focus.

As Gator said, start working on MFS now.

Good luck to you.

Yes, defnitely work on your MFS (mask, fin, snorkel) drill. Also, to work on getting over the water in the nose issue, work on porpoising with a snorkel and no mask. That's basically swimming with a snorkel, no mask, and swimming for one or two strokes and then diving down until your snorkel fills up with water and then having to come up, keeping your face in the water, and clearing your snorkel. Repeat this over and over for about three hundred yards. Good luck.

Bring them. I used mine there. And those are still the same fins I dive with. Even after the really expensive split fins they issue us...I still prefer my jet fins. Good luck.
