Hello I have really wanted to join the navy seals for as long as i can remember and I was wondering how I could I get in the best physical shape as possible? Right now I am a little fat and need to improve in running times push up and pulls up and swiming but what are your recommendations on the best way to go about training for this?

First, read the SEAL Recruitment Req's in the post just above yours. That is called "Read more post less."

To achieve the level of physical training required of SEAL selection, first start each exercise until your body, limbs, or mental stamina is half way into stess. Then stop. Do the same number of exercises the next day, and the next, and so on. Then the following week add 10% onto your exercise count, the same the next day and so on. Then the next week add 10% to last weeks, and so on.

What you will be doing is working from the body you presently have. The 10% increments, rather than full bore incrments will perhaps save you from bone joint, muscle, ligment, etc. injury that may follow you into SEAL Qualification Testing.

Alright thanks, as to what exercises are you referring to? Push, Pull-ups and so on? Should I also try increasing strength by lifting weights and cardio increasing stamina? And get into shape? Because as of right now im not all that fit.

fauzool:

Read:
Passing for SEAL
500-yard swim in 12:30 or less (using side or breast stroke only)
10 minute break
42 pushups in 2 minutes
2 minute break
50 situps in 2 minutes
2 minute break
6 pullups (no time limit)
10 minute break
1.5-mile run in 11:00 or less

Elevated for SEAL
11:00 on swim
62 pushups
70 situps
8 pullups

If you cannot decipher the above do not apply for SEAL training.

fauzool use the find feature and insert physical training. You'll have some reading to do, which you should have done before you asked those questions.

I'd go ahead and read ALL of sb5's posts. Maybe then you'll learn why he answers the way he does, and which types of questions he (and the other SEALS on this board) will actually answer. You're really lucky in a way he responded at all, normally he ignores questions as simplistic as yours.

Trust me, he knows not only all about the BUDS training you have to go through, but all the training that follows it as well.

Since you know so much, keep doing it the way you're doing it. You'll get far. Good luck.
