Hello,

I am currently a BM3 in the SELRES and am interested in making the switch over to IS. Before I make the decision, though, I would like to see what IS work is like in the reserves.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get an operational tour, or some information in regards to what a typical day for an IS is like?

Thank You.

BM3,

I am not a reservist, but I am an IS. You would definitly have to go to "A" school again. There are alot of cool places you can go as an IS, some are harder to get than others.

IS3 Glidden-renzi, look me up in global

IS3 GR is right about going to "A" school. You will have to do that, but you will get a clearance which will help you land a job in the civilian world. It will pay off for you to switch rates if you are serious.

I have a Reserve friend who is switching rates and going to IS "A" school in September, so I suggest start working on that ASAP if you really want to switch.

There are many places you can go as a Reservist and each job will be very different whether you are at a Sector, District or MIFC. All depends on what billet you can score.

IS3 GR,

I'm doing my ADT this coming week. I will e-mail you tomorrow from global. Thank you for the information.

As far as the clearance goes, do you know if it can be transferred from another government agency? As in, let's say I were to have a TS/SCI with another agency, would CG SECCEN accept it and transfer it over?

Thanks

BM3

Boats;
If you do, I would suggest contacting the IS RFMC and asking some questions of him. Depending on what you do in that job and what your experience is, he might consider no requiring A-School.
