All words in caps, zero punctuation and a single run-on sentence that is 8 lines long.

I think you should avoid any rating that includes "Intelligence" as part of its description.

Don't bother paying any attention to that last post.

A question for you. Don't you think basic communication skills are at all important?

Why not? Don't you think that an individual that posts here, knowing that no one knows anything about them, should attempt to show themselves in the best possible light?

At this point all we know about the individual is the way their post looks. It just strikes me as odd that they would be so sloppy.

Since I've been on Fred's Place for 10 years or so I doubt that I qualify as a troll.

Unlike a troll, I have a completed profile and a long and abiding interest and involvement in the CG.

Read the initial posting here and tell me just how impressed you would be with an individual that is too mentally lazy to put their best foot forward when seeking advice.

I'm pretty sure that SCPO Benson has a completed profile there.
As do I...

Either way, no one in the CG is being accepted, denied, evaluated, nor losing ASVAB points because of what they post here.

If that were the case, I'd be a flippin SR awaiting RELAD

My post regarding a profile was solely a response to his troll statement. Trolls typically fall into the "this member has a private profile", or some completely bogus profile category. My comment was to show I doo not fit into that category.

You are correct, a person can post anything, anyway they choose. It just strikes me as being mentally lazy. It takes no more time to do it right then it takes to do it wrong. I was raised to always make sure anything I did was done to the best of my ability, so I tend to get a bit judgemental when I see something as sloppy as that first post.

I'm not trying to start a pissing contest here, just expressing my opinion in the hopes that some folks will realize that communication skills are always important.

We all misspell words and make typographical errors once in awhile, but I think most of us at least TRY to get it right.

There wasn't much to the thread, nor did the poster get an answer to their question, so i don't feel too badly about "hijacking" it.

However, there's nothing more to be said.

Couldn't resist...

"The term troll is highly subjective. Some readers may characterize a post as trolling, while others may regard the same post as a legitimate contribution to the discussion, even if controversial. The term is often used to discredit an opposing position, or its proponent, by argument fallacy ad hominem.

Often, calling someone a troll makes assumptions about a writer's motives. Regardless of the circumstances, controversial posts may attract a particularly strong response from those unfamiliar with the robust dialogue found in some online, rather than physical, communities. Experienced participants in online forums know that the most effective way to discourage a troll is usually to ignore him or her, because responding tends to encourage trolls to continue disruptive posts — hence the often-seen warning: "Please do not feed the trolls".[9]

Frequently, someone who has been labelled a troll by a group may seek to redeem their reputation by discrediting their opponents, for example by claiming that other members of the group are closed-minded, conspirators, or trolls themselves."

Sounds accurate.

I've been using the internet since before there were "webpages" so that doesn't apply to me.

And I didn't do that.

But thanks for the cut and paste description. Wink

Then I must be TROLL BAIT:
a person who attracts trolls and responds to them unknowingly to their scheme; one who falls prey to the phenomenon of trolling in an irc room, forum, or internet voice chat room; a person, place, or website that trolls find a method of attack.

If the poster is truly an Active Duty member, they are getting all the info they need. If not, then FOUO info is not in the public domain.

That was the question and I agree with you totally. If the person is active duty the info is readily available. If they haven't joined yet they could still get a good inkling of the answer by reading some of the answers to the identical question in some of the recruiter's desk threads.

As I said earlier, I'm not trying to start a pissing contest here, just expressing my opinion in the hopes that some folks will realize that communication skills are always important.
