I apologize if this has been discussed but I have not been able to locate anything of this nature. I have been told by numerous persons that IS3 is still available to lateral into. I have also seen in this forum that IS3 is an "open rate". I do not know if the lateral and open rate are one in the same but I have not been able to locate any message traffic concerning either. I graduated A-School a little too late to take advantage of the lateral into IS and would very much like to take advantage of the lateral now if it is still available.

The direct lateral option is over you would probably have to go back to school for IS. Or you could try to lateral the old fashioned way per the persman, but you would probably become an IS faster going back to school. You can find all this info in the PERSMAN via CG Central.

The initial process is over with. Any new change of rating requests are handled the same was as say an MK who wants to become a BM.

You will need to have been an OS for 29 months before I would recomend approval......

Thank you for the information Master Chief. The main reason, other than enjoying INTEL, was to prepare for DCIO.

Is it possible to do an out-of-rate assignment to an INTEL billet since OS's, as a rate, are not holding designated INTEL billets?

Not really as almost every single 'intel' billet became an IS billet.

So alternates no longer have a chance of becomming an IS anymore?

No all that is over with. The alternate list was only up until Jan 01 when the rate stood up.
