I will be going to the IS A-school convening 28 January at the NMITC. I am a little curious as to how the arrangements will be for the handful of Coasties that will be attending the classes. Will we be fully integrated with the Navy personnel (i.e. berthing, classes, etc.)? Also, are there certain things we should and shouldn't bring with us. Any insight would help. As this is pretty much a new deal for all involved there are not a lot of resources for information within my command. Thanks.
You will be fully integrated with the Navy students at NMITC. This will include berthing, physical fitness training requirements, marching to and from class etc. Be sure to bring a full seabag (to include workout clothes).
I was at the NMITC indoc on Monday with the first four Coasti's going through. The first week will be admin and will cover the "Do's and Don'ts".
There will be CG instructors on site while Coast Guard students are going through the NMITC. Once you graduate from NMITC, you will go to TRACEN Yorktown for a few weeks of CG specific training.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me an e-mail and I will put you in touch with one of our CG instructors.
Yes & No. There is indoc for a week, then A school, then a final 3 weeks in Yorktown. There are something like 30 IS3 billets that need to be filled so signing up now is the key!
