So honestly we all are plankowners of the IS rate by the definition in this thread, and being the certificate is not offical there is nothing stopping anyone who wants a certificate from buying one.

edit: I didn't buy it. It has ISCM's sig on it.

That is awesome, I take you help stand up a new IS unit? Or when you changed rates did you PCS to a new IS style unit?

Heck, if it ain't offical you can just boot up MS Word and make any certificate you want......

I imagine that it used to mean a lot to be a plankowner, but the overuse of the term and certificate has diluded the meaning. I received a certificate and hat when I was at MSO Providence and we merged with Group Woods Hole to become "Sector Southeast New England". I stayed at the same desk, did the same job, and worked the same hours. Our mission didn't change one bit. I tossed the certificate in my closet and haven't taken it out since. I thought it was a complete waste of taxpayer money to purchase the certificates for the hundreds of people that "stood up" the new sector. Nothing you can do about it though....
