I need to get my GCCS praq signed off. Does anyone know where the nearest co-located ISC and GCCS system may be at?

Funny, I had a small part in developing the OS EPQs and I do not remember any GCCS EPQs. |

Aw come on - you know me well by now!
Any OS3 recomended for advancement and any OS2 period, should be able to help someone with that IS PRAC. (If they HAVE been an OS2 or above, or even really recomended for it, they should already KNOW IT!) The difference is we (the OSs) did not specify only ONE of the systems. SCCS, GCCS, C2PC, CGC2, et al, does this same thing and the prac isn't about buttonology. It is about PROCESS. Which button to click in a system is fairly irrelevant compared to knowing WHY you should choose WHICH button. |

I got the FIST LCDR to sit down with me and get my praqs signed off. He couldnt sign my GCCS ones either so I'm in the same boat as you are. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Shipmates,
This was one prac where being where I am had a slight advantage. I don't use the system (but am a little familiar with SCCS), but I recently got with a Navy IT3/Security Adminstrator about this and put a little powerpoint together along with some stuff he gave me. However, due the classification of it, I just can't send it unclas nor on the sipr side. And there lies the problem. Contact me if you want and I'll try to assist. |

I have to revise my former statement - anyone who was an OS3 or above should already have 100% of that knowledge as it is today - and for the next 13 days - an OS3 EPQ! Regardless of what A-School you graduated from, if you were an OS AT ALL, you should already know that!
If you don't, then I would suggest taking your new rating a little more seriously that you did as an OS. |

Master Chief,
your sarcasm is duly noted and for the record I took my former rate very seriously. I did very well and I did work with the old and new version of SCCS. However, no one I worked with was there 2.5 years ago when I was on the Cutter, so I'm looking for someone else. I hope you are not inferring that my Chief should just gundeck/sign the praq because I was an OS3/OS2/OS1 so I should know that. I'm trying to do things right and have some integrity. Sorry, RD3/OS2/OS1/IS1 |

What I was saying is you should have no trouble going up to your Chief and saying. "Chief, let me tellyou everything you didn;t ever want to know about......."

The actual prac is "Administer unit GCCS accounts and system maintenance programs." Yes, an OS should know all about SCCS, but at least on a 378' the IT's administer the unit accounts and perform system maintenance.

Just wondering...is this a hint that IS's will eventually be GCCS admins on the new WMSL's, and take over for the IT's. That is the only way I see this prac as "practical"

Some good input on the E-7 GCCS (admin) prac.
Hopefully the IS RFMC is taking notes |
