Hi all,

I'm going to be shipping off to Boot Camp soon(ish) and one rate I'm very interested in doing is IS. I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea of whereabouts possible IS3 Stations would be, and if there'd be a large selection or if it would be limited to a few locations?

BTW, as I'm a Green Card Holder, I will obviously be getting the US Citizenship before even applying for IS A-School....at the earliest I'll have this by October this year, at the latest, June/July next year (going by what other enlisted personnel are facing in terms of wait times) - so I'm going in as a non-rate initially. This should work out fine, as I understand there is a significant waiting period for IS A-School anyway at the moment.

Dear Future,
congratulations on becoming a US citizen. Your choices for duty stations will vary from Hawaii and Alaska, to Texas, to DC and New York. There are a couple of USCGC billets that are out there but your underway choices, if that is what you desire, will be few. As a green-card holder, do you speak any other languages? That may have some impact on where you go and what billets you may be filling.
Hope you do well in your USCG career and don't wait too long after you get your citizenship to put your name on the list, we need to fill all the OS3 jobs quickly.
Hope to work with you soon,
Josh
