Hey, I need some help on this issue. I used Google and yahoo to try and find an answer to this issue: I’ve strongly supported the war in Iraq for as long as I could and I still do. I also try to convince everybody I come in contact with to support it, but I’m running into a huge problem. I even have met a lot of veterans who fought in OIF and whatever the mission is called now come over here on leave, telling me that it’s all about money/oil/Bush’s revenge for his father, etc and that ain’t helping. Maybe ya’all can help me out…

I still remember the two speeches former President Bush gave out back in March in 2004(I think it was 04). He gave that Saddam one last chance to surrender his WMDs. Saddam refused and we went in and kicked some butt, liberated Iraq from a Middle East equivalent of Hitler and had Iraqi’s vote for the first time, etc.

The main argument I have from the average person is that we invaded Iraq under the impression they had WMDs, but we all know we haven’t found any yet. Are there other reasons we are over there? I do know that it also has something to do with the fact that if Iraq becomes a stable democracy that it will be a serious blow to Islamic Terrorism as a whole, but I’m having problems trying to convince people of this. I am planning on joining the Army as 63A as soon as I get my weight off, but until then I feel it’s my personal responsibility to try and convince people around me to support the war in Iraq.

…Any suggestions on how I can help people understand why we’re over there? Except for the two reasons on why I think we’re over there, are there any other reasons I can use?

Any help would be appreciated.
