If my boyfriend gets stoplossed I want to go work on his FOB next Summer for up to a year. Any suggestions for tracking down a position and/or what I can expect?

Thanks, -Kim
well good luck on going exactly where he is going to be. dont go to work for kbr. try itt. this is late in the game, they are going to be closing places and restructuring the civilians too. good luck.
thanks. i know where he is going but i don't want to post it on here. i've read some things about how conditions with kbr aren't so great but was wondering why you said that. i'm going to check with a host of companies including human terrain systems, which would put me outside the wire. i'm not sure if i'm ready for that but it would put my degree to use and earn me some good cash. i was kind of waiting though, hoping he won't have to go...should know in the next couple of months.
You'll also want to assess realistically if you can get even basic security clearance to get a job in Iraq. All it takes is a questionable credit record to deny you security clearance.
thanks. i'm in the coast guard aux so i have a homeland security clearance and was going to work on my sf86 when i had to move. i'm looking for either another cg sponsor here or try to find a job on post (army).
hey all and thanks for asking. update is i'm still up here at fort drum trying to get over to kuwait now. the stoploss happened so i have around 11 months to play with for getting over there and back. it doesn't matter what base, what job, etc. but since most positions require a committment of 12 months or longer i might get stuck here for another year without any great job prospects. i'd really love a 6 month to 1 year gig over there in entertainment, events, mwr, recreation, support, etc. just so i could experience something new...a different culture...new part of the world...and to help out in the war effort from the fringes. i've applied online with a handful of companies but i'm beginning to think that all the time and effort i put into that is resulting in my resume hitting a black hole. but i'll keep trying up to 6 months out. if anyone has any suggestions, recommendations, or can just get me in a position...i would very much appreciate that and would do well i have no doubts -Kim
