I think Scuttlebutt shows about 90 to 100 or so. I also heard but have not verified this year will not be as contracting based. Again this is unverified information.
Hello. I am also applying in June. I am an 1102, DAWIA certified. I missed the deadline for the January board. Hopefully they will select that many people in June.
Hello, I just joined this group in hopes of seeking advice and or help. I'm in the process of completting my application package for July and getting my two interview from 2 supply officers has been difficult. I'm in San Diego area if anyone has any advice.
Hello- I recommend that you ask your recruiter for help in setting up the interviews. Being in the San Diego area you are in the heart of the USN and should have no trouble getting interviews. If your recruiter doesnt assist contact your nearest NOSC (Naval Operation Support Center) and ask for help. If you are a current SELRES you can go to NKO and the Supply Corps Community Page and you can get a list of all Supply Corps Officers both active and reserve broken down by rank and state. I had to do this as my recruiter was not a great help in this regard not to mention being a long distance from any Navy Installation. Good luck.
so I had my second professional interview, my final is being set up by my Recruiter. MEPS is approaching and as long as that is snag free the package is complete.
I have completed my package for the June board and have asked my recruiter on 3 occassions if there was anything else that I need to do prior to the board. He has told me all three times that my package is complete and there is nothing else for me to do but wait. I have noticed that several people on this forum have mentioned going to MEPS prior to the board. My question is: Is MEPS a requirement prior to the board, or can it be done after selection, if that happens?
No explanation- my recruiter indicated that he never sends anyone to MEPS until AFTER they are approved. I find this odd since he could be putting endless resources into a candidate only to find out he or she is not fit for military duty or has a condition that requires a waiver and why would one be granted when you have an endless amount of applicants seeking a commission?! After 21 years of service I still can't explain why we do some of the things we do. Good luck to all!
My recruiter advised me she sends to MEPS prior to ensure the applicant can be comissioned as she only wants to send the best to the board. Also having MEPS done proior allows for a quick movement to scrolls since MEPS and ESPQ are completed.
I have one more interview and MEPS and I am ready for the board.
Fellow Supply DCO candidates- according to the link above the Supply DCO board is scheduled for 25Jul11 with all of your kit/package submitted by 27Jun11. As far as the billets available or 'soft billet' vs. 'hard billet' Your guess is as good as mine. I am hoping for a large number for obvious reasons---the only info I have seen is from last FY goal-
I do know that the HR board that is coming up they are selecting 10 from what my recruiter has told me----
Best of luck and by all means please share whatever info you have----------- Thanks HMC
From what I can tell there should be about 100 or so taken this go around with less of a contracting focus on the packagaes. Scuttlebutt shoes about 90 to 100 so that is about a 30% chance.
Hello! This is my first time posting in something like this. I have been going through the application process (active duty) for over a year now. Supply was not my first option, but after talking to a Supply Officer I am sure that is where I want to be. After hearing the disappointing news that there will be no Active Duty Supply boards until this fall, I am considering trying to go reserve. I graduate in May with a BA in criminal justice and app. 2.9 GPA. (I hope to get it above the 3.00) mark for graduation.
Because I have been working with an active duty recruiter, he is not sure on reserve supply boards and such. I do not think I am super competitive, but for being only 21 I think I have some good qualities and experiences that I could bring to the table. Any advice would be greatly appreciated at this moment in time! Thanks!!
My recruiter is submitting my application this week. I am a DAWIA Level II certified Contracting Officer.
Does anyone know what the board is looking for? My recruiter has told me that they selected only a few in January but he doesn't know how many they are expecting to select in July. This is my first application! Thanks and good luck to all!
looks like you have a skill they are looking for-- contracting especially the Level II. Its fair to say you are competitive without knowing the rest of your resume (education/experience/etc)---its hard to say what the numbers/results will be in July hopefully better than the January board----good luck---
Thanks. I have 2 masters degrees. (MA and MBA from a Tier 1 school). I am also certified in Project Management, Program Management, and Lean Six Sigma. I heard that the process is very competitive though..
