Hey guys. I just graduated from boot camp a month ago and I am currently in A school for HM. Just wondering if there were any other HM reservist out there that can give me some advice as far as how I can get as much experience as I can being a reservist. I am learning a lot and don't want the skills to go to waste. What is it like being a HM in the reserves? What do you do on your drill weekend and also where have you been mobilized to? I am planning on volunteering for what I can when i get back but I just wanted some insight to what I can do in the reserves as a HM. Lastly what C schools if any have you guys been to. thanks!
It varies from unit to unit. I don't know what or where you will be, Naval Hospital? Support Unit? FMF?
Being a reserve HM has been great for me. It's exactly what I wanted combining my military experience (Active Duty USMC) and my civilian experience (Firefighter/Paramedic).
As far as experience, we have HMs who work in civilian EMS and those that don't.
That's awsome. My full time job is a police officer so as far as first responder type stuff is concerned I have a ton of experience that I hope will help me. I also have some of what we call tactical first aid training under my belt. As of right now I'm contracted to go to little creek/ norfolk, va for my weekend drills. Soon as I get back I want to inquire about c schools particularly fmtb. I was not contracted in as 8404 so I'm hoping I can get the school. Have u been mobilized yet? Any other females in fmtb training btw?
