i joined the navy reserve but i wanted full time but they said because of my 4 dependents i had to join the reserve frist and switch to full time later after a year or so and the job i pick was master at arms and my question is can i get to full time a little quicker if i volunter to go over seas because i will volunter to do what ever it takes to get full time and my wife and family are 100% behind me on this so if there is any advice out there let me know please
You really need to be sitting down with your NOSC Command Career Counselor after talking to your unit Career Counselor on the issue. They would have access to the latest and greatest info.
Read over these forums and check out answers to other people who had the same question. It depends entirely what the Navy needs at the time on how your request will go. Junior people with no experience arn't needed as badly as people who have their schools under their belts and some rate to go with it.

I have been trying to get a reserve MA slot for almost a year now. Recruiter keeps saying the rate is locked up…is this true up in your neck of the woods?
