ConfusedHello, I am a prior service airman who is very much interested in serving again. There are a few obstacles in my way, however, and I am curious to know whether or not there is any way around them. I served on active duty in the Air Force from July 04 until January 06 when I was discharged UOTHC at the age of 19 for some serious trouble I got myself into on base. It is something that I am extremely ashamed to bring up, but I know it must eventually come to light anyway if I am to reenlist. The reasons I was discharged were unlawful entry and habitual indecent exposure, which led to my trial by summary court-martial in which I pled guilty to all charges. I was confined for 24 days, fined $900-something, and discharged immediately following my release from confinement. I have no doubt that the UOTHC I received was justified, and I feel that I in fact deserved greater punishment than what I received. I know that there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for what I did, and though I am still not sure why it happened in the first place, I can truthfully and gladly say that I no longer have the problems I had and that I feel I am entirely fit to serve, both physically and mentally. I have had no problems with the law since I was discharged, I have been working a steady full-time job for the past two years, and I am about to marry a kind and loving young woman who means the world to me. I miss the service a lot and though I wish I hadn't screwed everything up, on the other hand I have learned a lot of things about myself and grown in ways that I wouldn't have been able to had things not happened the way they did. I do not know if it is possible for me to reenlist, and frankly I don't expect to be able to, but if it is possible, I am willing to do whatever it takes. My UOTHC has been upgraded to General under Honorable on the basis of a technicality in the regulations, and though I no longer have the paperwork from the upgrade, I still have the upgraded DD-214 that was re- issued to me. The narrative reason for separation is Misconduct, with a separation code of HKL and reenlistment code of 2B. I have heard differing opinions as to whether or not the 2B is waiverable. I have no Art. 15s on record, no felony or misdemeanor convictions, and no other disciplinary actions other than the summary court-martial. I served as a weather forecaster, accumulating 59 semester-hrs of credit from the Community College of the Air Force, and my rank at discharge was E-2 (previously E-3). I have no idea what kind of waivers would be required for me to reenlist, or if I would even be eligible for them, but as I mentioned before, I am willing to do whatever it takes to get in. Any advice and suggestions are welcome, and I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to read this.
