hello i was just ELS'd from MCRD San Diego for "asthma" but have had no problems with it at all. i was having some wheezing during first phase, but I believe it was mild pneumonia. I have scheduled an appointment with my doctor for him to check me out. I have wanted to be a Marine since I was 7 years old and cant picture myself doing anything but this. I want to get back in so bad, is there any advice anyone can give me in getting another chance? It would mean the world to me. Thanks a lot!
Go to your doctor and get a PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) done and get a full pulmonary workup done. Get the results from the doctor's dictation and his recommendation for military service. If you have the money and the time get a second opinion with full medical paperwork done also with a specialist dealing with asthma. When you are finished with this take everything to a recruiter and he will see what route to take. They can submitt a BUMED (Bureau of Medicine) so that you can take the physical again. But before that the recruiter will submitt it to his command and they will see what they can do. Just make sure you have all your "ducks in line" before you approach a recruiter. Some recruiter won't touch this situation because of your prior history of "asthma" but a good Marine recruiter will do what he can. Just don't take "No" for an answer.
