Good Morning Gentlemen/Ladies. I was a Recruit stationed at MCRD San Diego last year, and was dischared (general) due to reasons beyond my control at the time. I very much so want to re-enlist into the Marine Corps.
I spoke to a local recruiter who has told me that I have to wait for two years before Re-entering. He didn't specify if this past year counted in the 2 years or not. I have my doubts about him (we met from my old DEP Unit in a different city), because I have been looking into forums a lot. I dealt with him because of the old quote "an enemy known is better than one not" or something along those lines.
I have been told by certain people that I can get back in, and I suspect that the recruiter told me this because he didn't want to "deal with it".
Is the two year hold common in the Marine Coprs? If it is, can you get a waiver at MEPS to earlier, so I can go say around this time next year or earlier? I'm looking at possibly attending a training course in California or Minnesota which will be good because I can "bypass" that recruiter, but it will be hard to convince the center to let me stay until May of 09'. My other concern about waiting a year is the presidential elections coming up....Thank you very much for your input.
