What threats are Aegis BMD and Standard-Missile-3 interceptor missiles designed to counter? Short-range, medium-range or intercontinental range ballistic missiles? Or a combination of these BM genres?
The DOD is trying to kill the Multiple Kill Vehicle, a crucial military program designed to counter MRBMs and ICBMs. It claims that it wants to "focus on" THAAD and Aegis "instead" (but it doesn't promise to expand them). THAAD is CLEARLY not designed to counter the same threats as MKVs. What about Aegis and SM-3 missiles?
