So I want to be a Marine. Only a Marine, I dont want to join any other branch of the service. The thing is, I went Sky Diving about Two weeks ago. I fell in love with it. I'm going again in a week. So i started looking for MOS's for the Marine Corp that have to do with jumping from a plane. Well it turns out there is no MOS like the Army has Airborne Paratroopers. Again don't tell me to join the Army, i'm not intrested. I have my mind set on the corp, for years now i'm 18. I found out the only thing that has to do with jumping from a plane is Recon. I dont think I want to go that far in the Military. I wanna be a Marine, but not a Recon Marine.

Please let me know how I should go about this. Or if I should stop trying to find something close to being a Paratrooper in the Marine corp. Is there anything close to it, or does anyone have ideas on what you think I would love for my MOS. I am going to talk to a recruiter, but I just figured i'd throw my topic on the Military forums first.
Any ideas let me know.

Thanks! Wink

Jon

You should try the Army, the Marine Corps doesn't have much need for Jump-Qualed Marines.

Join the Marine Corps because you want to be a Marine, not because you want to jump out of planes or learn a high tech job skill.

Oh and PS dumdum, capitalize the "c" in Corps, that's with an "s" on the end.

I think your best bet for jumping out of planes is to go for Marine Special Operations

AIRBORNE... I am the defacto expert on current Airborne operations on this forum.
If you can't figure out by my screenname I am a Parachute Rigger. MOS-0451. Do yourself a favor and type the following into the find Button and a lot of your questions will be answered:
"USMC MOS 0451 Airborne and Air Delivery Specialist", "ANGLICO", "AIRBONRE MARINE", "RECON".

There are only two MOS's out there that guarantee airborne school. and they Are 0321-Recon Marine and 0451-Air Delivery Specialist(Rigger). The other two that increase you chances of going are 0861-Foward Observer and 0621-Field Radio Operator.

I just chose my MOS at MEPS for the AF about 2 months ago and decided with "Airborne Operations".
Can someone fill me in on the general outline of what this job means and what i would be doing? I have done some research already but am still a bit confused.

Thanks!
Kate
