I took the asvab test this afternoon and scored an 88%. Though ive only talked to an Army recruiter so far Ive been weighing my options as far as far as enlisting in the Marine Corps as well. Im interested in the Intel mos field 02. Also I cant seem to find a lot of information concerning the quality enlistment program, what exactly is it and how can it benefit me? The Marine Corps recruiter was out this afternoon so i wasnt able to talk to him. Thank You

Ha ha ha sucker pitch! Just give us an additional two years boy and we'll guarantee we'll send you where you want to go. Wow ... and these kids fall for this?

Let's see, either you're going East Coast so politicians can see you parade around, West Coast where you bake at 29 Stumps and freeze at Pickle Meadows, or Hawaii for island fever or Okinawa where you're ready to slit your wrists within three months.

Of course there's the occasional all expense paid field trips to scenic Iraq and A-Stan where you'll perfect your craft at the convenience of the government and all this is guaranteed for the mere low rock bottom price of two additional insignificant years out of your life.

Ha ha ha ha ha ... and these kids are buying this??? Lord have mercy ha ha ha ha ha.

They do a great job at selling it to us. Ive bought it so far. I figure its not all its cracked up to be, especially when you put it that way it doesent sound nearly as intriguing. But if thats what it takes to be a marine...

Shamrock slow down, stop and think Son. Is becoming a Maine based on enlisting ... or going through what it takes to actually achieve the Title? Terms of enlistment are only periods of service you sign on for. Your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), duty station, etc. are only the mechanics of where you'll be doing what you job is. Nothing more, nothing less.

Never forget that it's better to make an informed decision instead of a multiyear mistake. Why not pick your MOS and let your fate/kismet/cosmos determine your destiny from there? Where is the fun in picking everything before hand and leaving nothing up to something greater than yourself? Where is your spirit of adventure where you end up where you end up???

Lord have mercy Son, life ain't this serious at your age. Pick an MOS where you'll have the most fun now and leave the rest of your life for when you discharge because it's a safe bet you darn sure won't feel the same way or view the world as you do now. If you do ... then you didn't learn a thing.

You only have one shot at being young. Make the most of it while you still can because your mate, children, ultimate career, mortgage, life pressures and everything else that comes along later in life are closer than you realize.
