Can't enlist for EOD. Looks like you should go to be an uber-pogue and be a computer geek.

No offense was meant by it John. One of my favorite officers while I was in was a 2800, Col M.E. Bennett.

Read and pay particular attention to requirement # 5. Had you done a search of this forum, you would be aware of this requirement as it has recently been discussed. Attention to detail is a needed attribute in all Marines, particulairly for Marines in EOD.

The below is from About.com:

Marine Corps (USMC) Enlisted Job Descriptions

MOS 2336, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician

Summary. Explosive ordnance disposal technicians perform various duties incident to the location, excavation, recovery, rendering safe, disassembly, inerting, detonating, burning or final disposal of unsafe conventional explosive ordnance, WMD (chemical, nuclear, and biological ordnance) and IED that represent a threat to operations, installations, personnel, or materiel. These include improvised explosive/nuclear devices that present a threat to operations, installations, personnel, or materiel.

Requirements/Prerequisites

(1) Must have a GT score of 110 or higher.

(2) Complete the Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Basic Course.

(3) Meet all requirements for assignment to a critical position within the Nuclear weapons Personnel Reliability Program; refer to SECNAVINST 5510.35.

(4) Interviewed per MCO 3571.2.

(5) Volunteer in the grade of sergeant in any MOS (waiverable for Marines who are corporals and are reenlisting at the first term alignment point).

(6) Must have a final secret security clearance based on a background investigation.

(7) Normal color vision and no claustrophobic tendencies.

(8) U.S. citizen.

(9) In the performance of their duties must be physically qualified for an explosive driver's and emergency driver's license per NAVSEA 2239.

Duties. For a complete listing of duties and tasks, refer to MCO 1510.78, Individual Training Standards.

You can not enlist for EOD.

There is no enlistment option. You can try for Combat Engineer and then try to get into it. It's a roll of the dice. There is a minimum rank requirement also... Corporal or Sergeant.

There is an enlistment option for Data Processing. Entry level is equivalent to a Network Administrator Apprentice.

No programming in the classical definition. You may program devices such as switches and routers. Troubleshoot network connectivity on pc's and workstations.

How current is that info?
I know that they are drastically expanding the EOD field, but I do not know all of the details. When my MOS was expanded they made it entry level instead of lat-move only.

I do not know how currrent anything is on About.com. It has been posted before that information from there should be checked for any revisions that may not be incorporated. This can be done by checking with recruiters who should have the latest information and/or by checking referenced Marine Corps Orders, or other referenced material and related documents.
