So im looking at ether the Air Force, or the Marines to go into, I want to go into the one that will benefit me the most in the Law Enforcement side of things. I would love to become a US Marshall. The Marines have sparked my interest because of the brother hood. How MUCH different is the boot camp than the others? Im sure I can do it, but I would like to hear from someone that has been in it lately. Thanks

Watch the Militray Channel, you get the idea. Or Do ya?. Lastly don't come in here trying to get us to compair one braches ways to train recruits to another, Marine Boot Camp has changed very little over the past 100 years. There is no need to ask someone who has done it lately over someone who has done it a long time ago....

ANY branch of the military will "benefit" you as long as you don't get into trouble and get an OTH.

It's sort of like one of those "Sandals" vacations... warm tropical breezes and lots of sand(fleas). Just consider your Drill Instructors as though they are your entertainment coordinators. Friday nights used to be Karaoke night, but that may have changed. Big Grin

Right! They didn't have Karaoke when I went in, but it was usually movie night. Same on Saturday evenings. If we chose not to go to the movies we could 'hang out' at the Gedunk/Pogeybait huts, and even smoke in the heads. Man, that was always a lot of fun.
Of course I went to boot at Dago. The evenings would turn cool usually after sundown, so our Senior DI SSgt. Humphries wouldn't let us go swimming.

No matter which branch, you're still going to need a degree to be competitive for the Marshall service.

Also, Friday Night Karaoke has been moved to Thursday. They now have Guitar Hero on Fridays.

It really has Hansen. Example: we didn't have tv, much less plasma flat screen(s) in our quarters.

Put it this way! The U.S. Marines are a different Animal than the other American branches!!! One EARNS the title "Marine"!
Once a Marine, always a Marine.... Haven't you heard of this saying?

If a Service Member wants to cross deck after their enlistment in any other Service besides the Marine Corps, they will have to attend an MCRD,(Marine Corps Bootcamp). If a Marine decides to enter another service, say the Army, a Marine DOES NOT have to go thru their Basic bootcamp!!!!...Follow...

The above statement says Volumes to the Integrity, Training, Dicipline and Courage of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Marines who wear the Eagle, Globe and Anchor! Tradition, Unity, and if I might add, Operational Presence. Thats right! Operational Presence!

This is something a Marine will understand. We do not go to the Battlefield to occupy. We go to Fight!

We did hot have them either, in 1979 plasma was a bi-product of blood, not a TV... Big Grin

See that, things do change! In '82, Thursday nights were reserved for the social "mixer" over at 4th Bn. Some of the best lap dances I ever got were from sex deprived female recruits Eek

Now that proves it! PI was the easiest compared to Dago. We didn't have female recruits at Dago for our 'social' nites out.
Fact is, our Senior DI, SSgt. Humphries didn't like us to dance. anyways.

You didn't have social nights in SD, because you guys were to busy going to baseball games!
