Hope y'all don't mind an Air Force person making a comment. Since my grandson joined the Marines and is headed to basic training soon I've read thru most all of the post in the Wannabe Forum. I pretty much got many of my questions answer by doing so.

When I joined the Air Force I to had the rotary phone, that tells how old some of us are.

I to winged it, headed to basic training not knowing what to expect although I did talk to one person who went thru about 1 year prior to me. About all he told me was what to expect when I 1st arrived at Lackland AFB, he said, "The rest will take care of itself, the main thing for you is to have your mind set that your going to do what they tell you to do, when they tell you to do it, them do it just like they told you to. If you will do this you will not have no problems." Looking back 43 years I feel he gave me some great advise.

In time I may have some questions to ask some of you, but most all of them have been answered at this point by reading many of the post that has already been made, plus just looking thru the Marine stuff here on Military.com. If any Wannabe's happen to read this, I urge them to take the advise that has already been given and do as I did. Search this site, there is much information on it about the Marines, you will learn much about the Maries by doing this, them you will know enough about the Maries to ask some good question instead of coming off sounding stupid.

But even though I winged it, I think its nice of you older Marines to take time to help the Wannabe's with their questions, even giving them a few good pointer. And yes, I'm proud my grandson joined the Marines. I feel its great for our young people to serve our country, I feel it makes them much better citizens.
