Hey all. I'm a U.S. citizen (military dependant) living in the UK at the moment; I will be moving back to the U.S. in a few months but I was just wondering--I will have done two years of college, over here we do four majors for two years, and I'm predicted A's and B's (don't know if this affects credits at all?) but will this make me eligible for entering the Marine Corps as a contract PFC? Or do I have to have gone to a college on their list? (even though that would have been a tad difficult for me lol).

You have asked the same question before. If and when you get to the states and talk to a recruiter you can have your transcripts evaluated.

Do you mean that you have completed 6th form and exams or have you actually studied at a university for two years?

Oh...I've done 6th form for two years + my exams, but we call it college here...so I've probably caused some confusion; I haven't done university. However, we do start education a little earlier than you guys, so that's why I thought it was a two year equivalent. All due respect Sir I've never asked this before though, I think it's just been brought back to the top.

Completing 6th form is equalivant to completing HS here. There are a couple of options for extra credit you might check into - ap/as exams which are advanced course exams for high school students and the CLEP exam which is the college level examination program.

It shouldn't be a big issue as it is possible to earn PFC in boot camp and rare that anyone isn't promoted to PFC with 6 months or less in.

It is always best to earn rank.

Oh okay, thanks for your help Sir. I will just go in and earn it, it's not really much of an issue whether I go in as Pvt. or Pfc. I was just curious. Thanks again! Kind regards.

Saoirse... what is the status on moving to the US? Will your "mum" become an American citizen or remain a Brit? By the way, she is affiliated to the military... she is a "military dependent."

Yeah, I realized, after I wrote it, that it had come out wrong; I should have said affiliation with the Marines. As far as the status, I'm going for a few months this year to establish who I'll be staying with as I know that I won't exactly ship out to Boot the next day, once the enlistment process is finished. Then it has been decided I'll probably move late next year - My mum and dad want to stay in the UK, although they are slightly indecisive, so she'll most probably remain an Irish citizen; will this affect anything? I hope it doesn't affect my eligibility for certain MOS's...I was told it wouldn't but it's still a concern. Anyway, thank you Sir.

Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be just a brawl.

Hide the accent... you'll just draw the DI's attention on to you. However, keep it after you've graduated.

It was 15 college credits when I joined nine months ago. I don't think it has changed recently. Also, proper spelling and grammar will get you a long way around here. Just a suggestion.

I currently have a loan from school that is about 21k. Four of which are federal loans, i wanted to know if the marine corp would pay for the federal loans like the army would. I talked to an army recruiter and he told me that they would pay for the federal loans and the personal i would pay myself. If anyone can answer that for me i would really appreciate it. Thank you.
