I meet all the basic qualifications and I can already pass all of the PT tests that I know of(not sure about pull-ups as I don't do them without a bar but I know from HS that I can do at least 20 or so without issue).
My only question is something that my recruiter did not talk too much about. Will High BP affect my ability to join? I've had it for a while and it doesn't affect my thinking, strength or ability to do anything besides pass a BP test.
I exercise about 1 hour(at least 1 hour) everyday and sometimes more depending on whether or not I run that day. My BP just won't go down and I have a feeling that joining the Marines and the Boot Camp portion of training can finally lower it as that is more intense exercise that I can pay attention to for hours on end without responsibilities distracting me.
I am not considering joining just to lower my blood pressure...I actually do want to join and the idea sprung up out of no where to tell you the truth. The road is diverging and my two choices that I like at this moment are: The Marines or college.
Some people have naturally high/low BP, it may have no bearing on your physical health. And even if your recruiter wont address the question, the goodfolks at MEPs will - goodluck.

[QUOTE] Okay Down and Out be careful of what you are posting. The first Sentence if fine and acurate but the second is going to get you in trouble with the other members. How do you no what is the exceptiable blood prssure limits at MEPS. unless you have had the same issue you should be commenting on it okay? [QUOTE]
It will depend on how high it is. I am no medical expert but from my experiences at MEPS I do have some insight into how there general operations work. IF you are slightly high it shouldn't matter that much and you should be able to join with out much issue. If you are at constent stroke/and Heart Attack level than yes. but if they have any issue they will ask you to get a doctor's note from YOUR PERSONAL DOCTOR stating that you are fit for military Service. I sujest before you go Down talk to your recruiter and ask his advice about that. Most likely he will send you down and see what MEPS says and play it by ear from there. And if you are at MEPS and they Don't ask anything about you Blood Prssure DON'T OPEN YOU MOUTH. IT WILL GET YOU INTO POINTLESS TROUBLE okay.(this is from my personal experience you only want to go to MEPS twice not Six Tims like I DID) GOOD LUCK
