(Accidentally posted this in the Infantry board, so if a mod sees this before it is seen in there, could they possibly get rid of it?)
This is what I have been hearing from a bunch of my friends who are in the ARMY. A bit of info about myself: 20 years old, a semester away from my associates, and currently debating on whether or not I want to finish up a degree in criminal justice before I join the Corps. Not that it would really matter, as I wouldn't want to go in as an officer, but would prefer to just go in as an e-whatever I would get with some college credits. Ground combat is my area of choice. Anyway, among those in the army that are telling me no, I even have friends who are Marines that tell me not to. They say that the living quarters are crap, and that their day to day routine sucks. What I have to wonder though, is did they go into the military thinking it would be an easy way out? That the military was there just because they flunked out of college? Of course it's going to be work, but in my mind, it's all worth it, especially if you're one of the best. Just sharing my two cents. |

If you go Army, good luck to you. If the Army and the Navy Ever look on Heaven’s scenes; They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines. AWildEagle26 Semper Fidelis Lightning from the Sky, Thunder from the Sea |

If you ever spend time on a Army base and are wearing the Marine Corps uniform, you will always here from many of the soldiers, "I was going to join the Marine Corps BUT...(insert excuse)", or "I hate the Army I Should have joined the Marine Corps."

I second that.
The most abundant first conversation with soldiers and seamen is "i was going to be a Marine, but..." I've never met a Marine that said "I was going to be a soldier or seamen, but...." On the contrary though, we've all said at one time or another "i should have joined the air force", lol. pete |

There's just something about the grit and the brotherhood of it all that really appeals to me.
I realize there will be a lot of hard work, but hard work never killed anyone. |

Are you saying that I would do well in the Army? Or the wise guy?
Personally, I don't think I'd do well in the Army is because it lacks that brotherhood that I admire so much in Marines. |
