I have searched on line, tried askabout.com and checked here under "Find", but I still can't locate the info. If anyone knows what these Marine job abbreviations stand for, could you let me know. I am trying to study up on them. Thanks:
AE, AJ,B6, B7, B8, BA, BX, BY, CA, CE, CJ, Cl, CM, CN, DB, E4, UV

Where'd you find all those? Hopefully someone that used to be a recruiter will be around to help you out with those. What MOS do you want?

I requested 02,03,26, and 43. My recruiters say they can't get me one in those areas even though I am qualified. They have been hard selling me not to wait for one of those fields. This is a list of jobs they want me to consider. I told them I would. That's why I am trying to get info on what the abbreviations mean so I can look them up at least by occ.fld.

Those are two-character codes for enlistment options.

I do not believe your recruiter just gave you a list of those codes without any other information. There is quite a bit to know about each one.

Each enlistment option may have more than one MOS Field and each field may have many MOS's.

When you sign up into an enlistment option, you are guaranteed to get one of the MOS's in the enlistment option - if you pass all the requirements.

What I found on the net listed below is 5 years old. Some may be the same today while some may have changed.

You need to go over each and every one of these with your recruiter. He has the latest scoop on each one of these enlistment options.

There may be substantial bonuses tied to some of these. Make sure you ask about it.

AE - Aviation Support - 6500 Aviation Ordnance / 7000 Airfield Services

AJ - Aviation Operations - 6800 Weather Service / 7200 AirContl/AirSupt/AirTrafContl / 7300 Enlisted Flight Crew

B6 - ?

B7 - ?

B8 - ?

BA - Aviation Electronics Technition - 5900 Electronics Maintenance / 6300/6400 Aviation Electronics / 6600 Aviation Logistics

BX - Data Systems - 0500 MAGTF Plans / 0600 Command & Control Systems

BY - Electronics Maintenance - 2100 Ordnance / 2800 Data/Comm Maintenance / 5900 Electronics Maintenance

CA - TRansportation - 3500 Motor Transport

CE - Combat Support - 0800 Field Artillery / 1800 Tank/Assault Amphibian Vehicle / 7200 Anti-Air Warfare

CJ - Logistics - 0400 Logistics / 2300 Ammunition & Explosive Ordinance Disposal
(One of the 0400's in this enlistment option is 0451 - Parachute Rigger)

Cl (CL) - Combat Vehicle Repair - 2100 Ordnance

CM - Construction / Utilities - 1100 Utilities / 1300 Engineer Construction & Equipment

CN - Service Management - 3000 Supply Administration / 3100 Traffic Management

DB - Command & Control / Electrician - 0600 Command & Control Systems / 1100 Utilities

E4 - Fire Direction / Control Specialist - 0800 Field Artillery (may have enlistment bonus)

UV - Marine Corps Security Forces - 0300 Infantry

Do a Google search for "MCO 1130.53P W CH 1" (without the quotes, of course). Download the Adobe file. This is the MCO on Enlistment Options straight off the Marine Corps Website. Most up-to-date information you'll find. Hope this helps.

I seem to remember you mentioning in another thread that you were interested in the UH(Infantry) option. If this is still true, and the Recruiter is offering you a UV option, then you should consider taking that. In the UV option, you'll be an Infantryman as well. Read the Marine Corps Order I told you to download for more information on this option.

GySgt of Marines,

I did not post a link to the MCO because it is dated 2002.

The most up-to-date information can be found at your Recruiter's office.

Understood DeepRecon...I will admit, I didn't check the date on the MCO, but I did download it right from the MCRC (Marine Corps Recruiting Command) website, so I was just assuming it must be the most current available. It's the same one I have on my shelf from when I left Recruiting Duty at the end of 2004. Anyhow, thanks for pointing that out, because you're right - there may very well be something more up-to-date.

I have a question to add to this. What is the difference between "Military Police and Corrections" and Marine Corps Security Forces." Thanks.

how do you get a UZ contract? can you get it before you go to basic or is that impossible because of the whole "Trying out for recon" after basic thing?

First of all, Marines do not use "basic" in our lingo. We either say Recruit Training, or Boot Camp. Second, if you can get a UZ contract from your recruiter, or try out at the School of Infantry.
