Marines,

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your service, it's appreciated more than you can ever imagine by any American with an inkling of pride.

My question has to do with OCS and TBS traing schedules. I've done all the reading I can have yet to get a real defined answer on how they structure training throughout the winter months? I was just wondering how the candidates jump through (or submerse themselves) in water in the dead of winter? I've been living and working in DC for the past 1.5yrs and it gets cold here, I would imagine that hypothermia could become a very real threat.

Thank you gentlemen,

-MRMayer

There will be moderate changes to the training schedule at both schools. For example in the winter, PT usually is later in the morning (at OCS anyway) when the sun has warmed up things a bit, and in the summer PT is usually earlier when it is cooler. However, training is relatively the same. However, rest assured, there are plenty of precautionary measures to reduce the chances of hypothermia or a heat case. You've got to be able to fight in all sorts of weather.

Thank you, I figured it was something along those lines. It was more or less curiosity.

I haven't really even started the application yet but I plan on going to the Oct. OCC class. I'm not big on cold, but hey, I don't want to be a Marine because I want a cake walk...

Mr. Tate,

Thank you very much. I've now seen all of those videos. That looks just like something that I want to be a part of.

I believe I'll be lurking for the next 4 months or so with questions mixed in now and again!

Having experienced Quantico in both the hottest and coldest months of the year...I can honestly say, it's going to suck no matter what time of year you go. Big Grin
